It’s Not Just Your Closets - Your Spirit Wants Space Too 🌸🧺

By Sage Robinson-Miller - Growth Coach - GrowingSage

There’s something about spring...

that makes clutter impossible to ignore👀

You open a drawer and sigh.

You scan a room and feel overwhelmed.

You suddenly want space - not just visually, but internally.

It’s the season of windows opening.

Of light revealing what’s been quietly collecting in corners.

Of realizing that what once fit…

now feels like too much.

And that urge to clear things out?

It’s not just about your closets.

Your spirit is asking for room.

🌱 Emotional Clutter Is Still Clutter

We’re very good at recognizing physical clutter.

Shoes piled by the door.

Drawers that won’t close.

Closets stuffed with things we haven’t worn in years.

But emotional clutter is sneakier.

It looks like:

  • Obligations you keep saying yes to out of habit

  • Conversations you replay long after they’re over

  • Expectations you carry that were never truly yours

  • Roles you’ve outgrown but haven’t released

Just like physical clutter, emotional clutter builds slowly.

One “I’ll deal with that later” at a time.

One “It’s fine” layered on top of another.

Until suddenly, everything feels heavy.

🌸 Why Spring Awakens the Need for Space

Spring is a threshold season.

It invites movement, freshness, and possibility.

And when new energy wants to move in, the old has to make room.

That’s why spring often brings:

  • Restlessness

  • A desire to simplify

  • A craving for lightness and ease

  • An impatience with what feels draining or unnecessary

Your nervous system isn’t being dramatic.

It’s responding to a natural shift.

Your inner world wants to breathe again.

🧺 Creating Space Without Becoming Ruthless

Creating space doesn’t mean becoming minimal.

It doesn’t mean purging your life.

And it definitely doesn’t mean forcing yourself into someone else’s version of “clean.”

Space is personal✨

☑️ Sometimes it’s physical:

  • Clearing one drawer instead of the whole house

  • Letting go of items tied to old identities

  • Creating one calm corner that feels restorative

☑️ Sometimes it’s emotional:

  • Saying no without a long explanation

  • Letting go of conversations that go nowhere

  • Releasing the pressure to be constantly available

  • Allowing silence without rushing to fill it

☑️ Sometimes it’s energetic:

  • Unfollowing accounts that drain you

  • Stepping back from dynamics that require performance

  • Choosing rest over reactivity

None of this needs to happen all at once.

Gentle clearing counts.

🌿 Space Is Not Emptiness - It’s Possibility

Many of us fear space...

because we associate it with loss.

With loneliness.

With “not doing enough.”

But space is not absence. It’s availability.

Space is what allows:

  • New ideas to land

  • Calm to return

  • Truth to surface

  • Joy to feel spacious instead of squeezed in

When your inner world has room, you don’t have to rush yourself. You don’t have to brace for the next demand. You can simply exist - without clutter pressing in from all sides.

💭 Reflection Prompts

🧺 What feels crowded or overstimulating in my inner world right now?

🌸 Where am I craving more ease, lightness, or openness?

🌿 What is one small way I could create space this week - without guilt?

🌙 Final Words

Spring isn’t asking you to become someone new.

It’s asking you to loosen your grip on what’s no longer necessary.

Clear gently.

Release kindly.

Leave room for yourself to stretch.

Your spirit doesn’t want perfection. It wants space to breathe.
